Project Overview:

The Sunfish Solar Farm Project includes the design, procurement, and construction of Hecate Energy’s new solar farm on 6,000 non-contiguous acres in Lee Township, Calhoun County, in Southwest Michigan. It is about 40 miles southwest of Lansing and 20 miles northeast of Battle Creek.

Phase 2 will be configured as a ground-mounted solar farm with PV panels on galvanized steel tracker racking structures. It will include rows of single-axis trackers, oriented in a north-south direction, that rotate the PV panels from east to west. By following the sun’s daily path, this configuration optimizes the amount of power the solar facility can produce.

Bechtel is responsible for project management, engineering design, technical integration, procurement, fabrication, construction, testing, commissioning, quality control, safety and other related services to design and construct the Sunfish Solar Farm.
