Project Overview:
The Project is a greenfield mining, process, material handling and ship loading project with a focus on sustaining production, minimise environmental impacts, strengthen long-term relationships with neighbouring communities and foster local economic development.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the formation and administration of logistics and supply chain contracts supporting major project execution. Responsibilities include leading bid processes, commercial evaluations, contract negotiations, contract administration activities and management of contractor performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
The position is ideally suited to candidates with experience in logistics contracting, freight forwarding, vessel chartering, marine transportation, heavy haul transport or related supply chain services. Experience across both contract formation and contract administration is highly desirable
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
Contract Management
- Implements the Supply Chain Assignment Schedule which records the Project’s agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to Subcontract Management
- Manages assigned contracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties
- Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, contract performance, and other major matters
- Manage moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement
Contract Formation
- Conforms and ensures contract execution
- Directs negotiation in the commitment of contracts
- Develops and issues contracts and services agreements as assigned
- Prepares bidders’ lists and pre-qualifies bidders
- Forms bid request packages and issues bid request packages to approved bidders
- Coordinates bidders’ questions and answers to those questions
- Receives bids and evaluates bids commercially
- Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations
- Recommends and secures approvals in accordance with established procedures
- Prepares subcontract documents for execution
- Prepares and organizes assigned meetings, such as pre-bid, bid clarification and pre-award meetings, for the purpose of ensuring complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer and contractor on all contractual matters
- After reviewing plan and agenda with supervisor, conducts meeting and prepares and issues meeting notes delineating important statements, required actions and schedules
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience in the formation and administration of logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, vessel chartering, marine services, port services or related supply chain contracts.
- Demonstrated experience managing the full contract lifecycle, including sourcing strategy, market engagement, tendering, commercial evaluations, negotiations, contract award and post-award administration.
- Experience with international logistics, project cargo transportation, freight forwarding, marine transportation, heavy haulage or supply chain management activities.
- Knowledge of logistics procurement models, freight pricing structures, vessel chartering concepts, Incoterms® and transportation risk allocation.
- Experience interfacing with logistics providers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, vessel owners, charter brokers, port operators or transportation contractors.
- Prior experience supporting major capital projects within the mining, resources, infrastructure, energy or construction sectors is preferred.
- Experience in both contract formation and post-award contract administration is essential.
