Job Summary:
In this role, you will provide technical guidance to promote consistency across projects, customers, and business lines. You will provide detailed review and support to capital cost estimates, cash flow, working capital assessments, and to the preparation of estimate documentation. Your recommendations ensure accurate cost estimations and will be essential in driving project profitability and success.
Major Responsibilities:
Direct Disciplines & Distribs
- Performs quantity takeoffs for a discipline or commodity specialty using defined documents
- Conducts capital cost estimates
- Reviews design scope criteria and develops quantities for undefined scope assumptions in coordination with other stakeholders/departments
- Participates in establishing pricing structures to be applied to quantities for estimates
Services
- Conducts detail pricing for non-manual labor service using functional staffing and other direct cost (ODC) inputs
- Supports the development of project-specific tools and templates to gathers appropriate quantity and labor/ODC information
Overall
- Prepares estimate basis and assumption documentation for their area of responsibility in support of overall estimate development
- Provides assistance to complex order of magnitude (OOM) estimates
- Prepares cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in area of specialization
- Provides support to estimate reviews and presentations
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Engineering degree and 15+ years of Industry experience with 10+ years on job site with exposure towards developing cost estimates.
- Experience in parametric estimating techniques.
- Proficiency in any industry leading cost estimating software like Aspen, Candy, Heavy Bid, Timberline, Cleopatra, etc.
- Understands Stickbuilt vs Modular, Greenfield, and Brownfield Execution Scopes.
- Knowledge of indirect construction cost practices.
- Effective in utilizing metrics to provide valuable checks.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in AI, Microsoft Copilot and Office applications (Word, Excel, Access. PowerPoint) is a must
- CAPEX EPC/EPCM estimating experience in any major streams like: Oil, Gas, LNG, Chemicals, Semiconductors, Manufacturing, Datacentres, Combined Cycle, Carbon Capture, Mining, Nuclear, Motorways, and Large Infrastructure (like Airports, Water storage etc),
- Bachelor’s Engineering degree with experience in latest estimating software.
- Familiar with commercial terms and conditions (contractor relationships, currency exchange, inflation, insurance, escalation, etc.) and with market pricing in area of specialization.
- Excellent communication skills to connect with others in project team
