Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is driving unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team has signed the EPC contract for the Cheyenne Power Hub Project, one of the largest gas-fired power generation facilities in the United States.

 

Job Summary:

Performs procurement activities associated with the formation, administration, and closeout of purchase orders in support of major EPC project execution. Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements, and to assure performance to purchase order terms and conditions. Prepares bidder pre-qualification, bidder lists, bid solicitation, bid analysis, makes commitments and administers purchase orders. Performs expediting activities to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs. #LI-JL1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure purchase order terms and conditions are compliant with Bechtel and project requirements 
  • Forms, issues, and administers purchase orders
  • Administers assigned purchase orders Communicates with suppliers as necessary to achieve required service and results from potential and actual suppliers to meet project needs.
  • Communicates with Field Engineering to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions for the procurement of materials and equipment and to achieve the understanding needed to process the requisitions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
     

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to form and administer purchase orders.
  • Site procurement support
  • Material receiving and logistics coordination
  • Construction-facing procurement activities
  • Interface with Field Engineering
  • Expediting and shortage resolution
  • Warehouse/material traceability
  • Schedule-critical procurement support
  • Proficiency in all phases of procurement including knowledge of and skill in communicating effectively with suppliers, bidder prequalification, preparation of bidders lists, compilation of bid requests, knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code or applicable commercial legislation, negotiation of contracted terms and conditions, and award of commitments.
  • Able to participate in the administration of commitments, monitoring supplier performance, back-charge procedures and the resolution of claims and disputes.
  • Has an understanding of equipment and material fabrication steps and methods.
  • Able to work with cross functionally, communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Capable of providing early warning of issues, such as supplier deficiencies and schedule delays, to Supply Chain and Project Management .
  • Capable of interpreting schedules to ensure they are realistic, that required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
