Project Overview:
Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Global Business Unit (GBU) is designing, building and commissioning a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility, in Clay, New York – the Micron Project.
The Infrastructure GBU scope consists of installing circa 3,600 drilled piers. The candidate will act as the Area Superintendent (Drilled Piers) on the Micron Project. The candidate will locate on a long-term assignment to the project site at Clay, NY.
Job Summary:
The Area Superintendent (Drilled Piers) is responsible for supervising and directing craft operations within assigned disciplines or areas. They will supervise and direct Craft activities related to all aspects of drilled piers/ piling operations, subordinate superintendents and others, as assigned. They will ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget. They will perform general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.#LI-JL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with various discipline Superintendents, General Foreman, and Foreman to determine equipment requirements
- Schedule work to be performed, supervise in-process activities, and review work when accomplished.
- Prepare equipment maintenance schedules
- Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables
- Supervise and direct subordinate personnel and craft in equipment support activities within various disciplines
- Prepare craft requisitions and forecasts, job manpower forecasts and expenditure forecast.
- Develop and work plans and activities
- Implement procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget
- Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned discipline operations
- Coordinate field activities with other disciplines
- Ensure that all State and Federal safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university (or international equivalent), plus a minimum of 13+ years of relevant work experience; or 17+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Minimum of 9 years’ experience in field supervision on direct hire work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines.
- Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience.
- Maintain, promote and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
- Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
- Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects.
- Sound understanding of performance management processes.
- Advanced understanding of production management including scheduling.
- Advanced communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Advanced knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development.
- Extensive background in supervising drilled piers/ piling operations and a thorough knowledge of the associated equipment and techniques.
