Project Overview:
Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. Job Summary:
Assigned to a field engineering organization supporting concrete scope. Responsible for planning, coordination, and execution support concrete activities including reinforcement, formwork, and placement. Supports superintendents and Craft Professionals to ensure work is executed safely, in accordance with design requirements, within schedule, and aligned with quality standards. Performs field engineering functions including work planning, material management, quantity tracking, quality inspection & testing, and technical support for concrete operations. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Supports development of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) and short interval planning for concrete activities.
- Prepares and reviews construction drawings, sketches, codes, standards, and concrete placement plans.
- Coordinates with superintendents to ensure readiness for concrete pours including formwork, rebar, embeds, and access.
- Performs quantity takeoffs and verifies installed quantities for concrete, reinforcement, formwork and embeds.
- Ensure materials and placement cards are available to support planned pours.
- Monitors concrete placement, curing, and finishing to ensure compliance with specifications and design requirements.
- Supports inspection and testing activities including slump, temperature, and strength testing.
- Reviews specifications, procedures, and technical data related to concrete work and ensures proper application in the field.
- Ensures proper storage and protection of materials to maintain quality standards.
- Supports field issue resolution and NCR mitigation to prevent rework.
- Promotes and supports Zero Accident Philosophy during all concrete operations, including elevated work and heavy placements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of concrete placement, formwork, reinforcement, embeds, and finishing practices; ensures work is buildable and compliant.
- Understanding of ACI and CRSI standards including 301, 318, 117, 305R, and 306R and their application to field execution.
- Skills to ensure IFC drawings, quantities, embeds, materials, inspections are ready to support IWPs and superintendent plans.
- Controls quantities, quality, and progress using Bechtel Standard Applications Programs (BSAP).
- Ability to coordinate with engineering, construction, and quality teams; escalates risks or constructability challenges early and clearly.
