Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary:
In the BSAP (Bechtel Standard Application Programs) Coordinator role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
In this role, you will coordinate the deployment, configuration and day-to-day use of Bechtel's construction and field engineering automation tools for the ENTS project (truck shop, mining infrastructure) at Minera Escondida, Región de Antofagasta, Chile, ensuring data integrity, standardization and effective support to Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and field engineering execution.
Major Responsibilities:
- Work Planning & Packaging:Prepares construction drawings and sketches; Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
- Material Management: Initiates requisitions for field purchases.;Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Quantities: Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Safety/Quality Control:Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Technical: Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- BSAP / Construction Automation Focus:
- Coordinates the implementation, configuration and day-to-day administration of Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and construction automation tools: SETROUTE, quantity tracking systems, TeamWorks, Aconex and DSCS.
- Supports Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and Installation Work Package (IWP) development, sequencing and status reporting across disciplines.
- Ensures data integrity, standardization of codes/attributes and consistency of quantities, commodities and progress information across systems.
- Generates progress/performance dashboards and KPI reporting for field engineering and construction management (MS Excel / Power BI).
- Provides user support, training and troubleshooting to field engineering and construction teams on BSAP tools and workflows.
- Interfaces with Project Controls, Engineering Automation and Document Control to align data structures and reporting.
- Maintains alignment with Bechtel corporate procedures/SWPPs for quantity tracking, document control and field engineering automation.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Systems or related field (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience on large EPC/EPCM mining, industrial or infrastructure projects; remote / high-altitude site experience (Región de Antofagasta / Minera Escondida) desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and construction automation tools: SETROUTE, quantity tracking, TeamWorks, Aconex, DSCS.
- Knowledge in Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) / Installation Work Packaging (IWP) concepts and workflows.
- Quantity take-off, quantity tracking and progress/performance reporting.
- Data management, data integrity and standardization of codes/attributes across systems.
- Reporting and analytics: MS Excel (advanced) and Power BI dashboards.
- Reading and interpretation of construction drawings and field engineering documentation.
- Bechtel corporate procedures/SWPPs (quantity tracking, document control) and QA/QC practices.
- ES&H awareness and hazard/risk analysis (JHA / Q4).
- Demonstrated hands-on command of BSAP tools (SETROUTE, quantity tracking, TeamWorks, Aconex, DSCS) and AWP/IWP.
- Prior mining / heavy-industrial construction experience, ideally in Chile and at remote / high-altitude sites.
- Strong data-management, reporting and analytics skills (Excel / Power BI) with attention to data integrity.
- Effective coordination and bilingual (Spanish/English) technical communication with field engineering, project controls and document control.
