Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement of enterprise security detection capabilities within the Security Operations Center (SOC). You will perform cybersecurity engineering work supporting enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks, including SIEM content, security analytics, detection logic, log source coverage, monitoring use cases, and threat-informed defense capabilities.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled SOC Detection Engineer to join our Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining security detections within our SIEM and other security monitoring platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in threat detection, log analysis, and security operations, ensuring that our SOC can rapidly identify and respond to emerging threats.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, development, testing, deployment, and optimization of enterprise security detections, correlation rules, analytics, dashboards, and alerts across SIEM and security monitoring platforms.

  • Use security research, vulnerability analysis, threat intelligence, and attack methodologies to develop detections aligned to current and emerging cyber threats.

  • Participate in computer incident response team efforts by developing, tuning, and validating detections that support rapid identification, investigation, containment, and response to cybersecurity incidents.

  • Document detection logic, data requirements, tuning decisions, procedures, and playbook content to support maintainable and repeatable security operations.

  • Ensure the authenticity, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems through effective development and improvement of security detection capabilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience​​.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of detection engineering, security monitoring, log analysis, and security operations concepts.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise log sources including Windows and Linux event logs, network traffic, endpoint security solutions, identity platforms, cloud telemetry, and application logs.
  • Experience developing and tuning detections using cybersecurity frameworks and attack methodologies such as MITRE ATT&CK;, NIST, CIS Controls, and related industry practices.
  • Ability to evaluate identifiable factors across diverse technical problems, exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques, and resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise latitude for judgment, and assist less-experienced team members as needed.
