Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Bechtel are seeking personnel to join multiple existing and upcoming projects comprising copper/gold concentrators with associated ROM feed, ore handling, processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and construction accommodation villages.
Increasing production of minerals is critical to allow the development of key components for clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for providing hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) engineering support. Main responsibilities include origination and checking of calculations, preparation of reports, preparation of design documents such as specifications and design sketches, review of vendor submittals, etc. The ideal candidate will have solid experience mainly in hydraulic analysis and design with some experience in hydrologic analysis. The position will report to the Corporate H&H Manager and will be required to coordinate with H&H engineers across Bechtel offices, other disciplines and functions in the development of design documents. In addition, it will be required that the candidate has excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and embrace Bechtel’s diversity & inclusion, leadership, quality, and safety values. The position will be based in New Delhi, India.
This position is designated as part-time teleworking according to our global telework policy and will require at least four days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collects, reviews, and interprets technical data to be used for analysis and design.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard hydraulic engineering methods in preparing steady state and transient analysis of piping systems; pipeline and open channel hydraulic and design; design of hydraulic structures; stormwater management and drainage design; and storm drain modeling.
- Prepares, checks hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, reports, specifications and presents the results of analyses and investigations, and reports to members of the project team
- Communicates hydraulic and hydrologic issues with the project team during the engineering design stage of the project
- Performs value engineering, constructability reviews, safety reviews, and O&M reviews
- Assists in developing plans and schedules and conducts and coordinates each phase of hydraulics and hydrologic design developments
- Adheres to project execution plan, quality assurance requirements, engineering procedures and instructions. Oversee external hydraulic and hydrologic consultants hired by Bechtel or the client to perform these tasks
- Participates in technical excellence activities

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum of:
- 7+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, or
- 5+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, if holds a MSc degree, or
- 3+ years of relevant EPC industry experience, if holds a PhD degree.
- Solid experience developing hydraulic / hydrologic engineering tasks, such as design calculations, analyses, studies and reports.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to execute hydraulic analysis and design of piping systems and open channels; design of hydraulic structures, stormwater management and drainage design; and storm drain modeling in support of engineering design and site development
- Proficient in the use of analysis software such as FATHOM, FluidFlow, PIPENET, IMPULSE, SWMM, HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, Flow 3D Hydro, etc.
- Working knowledge of international codes & standards, and regulations for hydraulic and hydrologic engineering matters (e.g. ANSI/HI, ASME, AWWA, API, etc.).
- Proficient with GIS tools such as Global Mapper or ESRI ArcGIS
- Experience with coding in Fortran, Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB or C++ in processing and analyzing large spatial and time series datasets
- Knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as calculations, engineering study reports, drawings, equipment data sheets and specifications.
- Ability to resolve design issues with team engineers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Professional engineering license/certification
