Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design and preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations and Plant Design and Piping (PD&P) drawings. You will originate basic deliverables and documents and verify compliance of pipe configurations and manufacturers’ drawings. Your efforts will contribute to ensuring PD&P design meets industry best practices and compliance standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Compiles, adjusts, and correlates data for plant design - engineering work​ 
  • Prepares or participates in preparation of construction drawings, project schedules, graphic presentations and plant design and piping drawings​ 
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance​ 
  • Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records​ 
  • Checks manufacturers’ drawings and data for compliance with specification and design drawings​ 
  • Designs or participates in designs for minor structures and portions of plant or piping​ 
  • Originates basic discipline deliverables and documents, including basic pipe support details and designs, bulk material take-offs, wall thickness calculations, piping material classes or simple stress analysis calculations 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires 2-4 years of related experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in creating and checking Revit Fabparts geometrics in accordance with Industry Design Codes and project requirements.
  • Experience in extracting Revit Fabparts for 3D modelling and generate required validation reports.
  • Ability to configure validation requirements for Revit Fabparts to 3D modeling systems
  • Ability to adopt a practical approach to piping material problems and be familiar with the requirements of 3D modelling.
  • Able to Issue and maintain log of Revit Fabparts library.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience on a medium or major size project in engineering management at Bechtel.
  • Working knowledge of Piping Material Specification software (SmartPlant Reference Data SPRD, etc.).
  • Understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including basic construction practices and the economics involved.
  • Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline. Specific knowledge of B31.3 design and materials is essential.
