Project Overview
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will support multiple projects by performing technical or commercial logistics work. You will be responsible for domestic and international multi-leg shipments with both internal and external entities, ensuring safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements. Your work will help ensure project requirements are satisfied in accordance with policies and procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performs domestic and international multi-leg shipment responsibilities in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements
- Identifies transport cost and service alternatives to support materials/equipment purchase decisions and use of Logistics Service Providers
- Prepares Logistics Service Provider commercial bid tabs, commitment authorizations and contract documents within the scope of Bechtel policies and procedures.
- Prepares logistics studies including site and Logistics Service Provider facility visits.
- Managing the movement of modules over the road or by barge
- Technical understanding of heavy-haul and specialized transport in the Americas Logistics Technical or Commercial role supporting a moderate/large sized project with a complex scope as a deployed, dedicated resource in the home office or field.
- Performs administrative Logistics support tasks primarily in the home office or field.
- Coordinates shipments with requisite internal and external entities.
- Ensures timely entry of shipment tracking data into Oracle Transportation (OTM) to provide visibility shipment status.
- Ensures timely audit and processing of Logistics service provider invoices in accordance with project procedures.
- Assists in preparation of Logistics reports or performance metrics as required to satisfy project information requirements.
- Assists the project Logistics lead as requested.
- Assists with filing and resolution of Logistics service provider claims.
- Integrates safety requirements and measures in all Logistics activities.
- Develop freight cost estimates based on project requirements across all modes of transportation.
- Familiar with Incoterms® 2020, with the ability to support the purchasing team during the early stages of purchase order negotiations by advising on the most suitable Incoterm based on cargo characteristics, origin, mode of transport, routing, and overall commercial requirements.
- Support the technical interface with the project’s insurance provider, Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS), and appointed surveyor deployed for load-out activities.
- Review all technical drawings related to over-dimensional equipment and modules, including transport drawings. Identify any missing critical information and coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure required details are incorporated into revised submittals before sharing them with ocean carriers and the MWS for final planning.
- Comprehensive understanding of ocean chartering terms and contractual conditions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

- Career-level position within field. Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline.
- Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
