Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers. Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline

Job Summary:

The Indirects Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, forecasting, and performance monitoring of indirect construction activities that support project execution. The role develops and maintains detailed schedules for temporary construction facilities, site infrastructure, logistics, construction support services, indirect labor, equipment, and enabling works to ensure efficient execution of direct work activities.
The Indirects Planner works closely with Construction, Field Engineering, Project Controls, Logistics, Procurement, Site Management, and subcontractors to identify execution requirements, monitor productivity, and forecast indirect resource needs. #LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules for indirect construction activities using Primavera P6.
  • Integrate indirect and support scopes into the overall project schedule.
  • Establish logic relationships between indirect activities and direct construction work.
  • Develop execution plans for site infrastructure and construction support facilities.
  • Support baseline schedule development and periodic updates.

Resource Forecasting

  • Forecast indirect manpower requirements.
  • Forecast construction equipment utilization.
  • Support staffing plans for indirect organizations.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly workforce projections.
  • Identify future resource constraints and mitigation plans.

 

Performance Monitoring

  • Track progress against baseline plans.
  • Measure indirect productivity trends.
  • Analyze schedule variances and impacts.
  • Monitor utilization of temporary facilities and support resources.
  • Evaluate indirect labor performance and efficiency.

Cost and Trend Support

  •  Support indirect cost forecasting.
  • Assist in quantity and productivity trending.
  • Coordinate with cost engineers regarding indirect budget performance.
  • Evaluate potential schedule and cost impacts from changes.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) reviews.

Reporting

Prepare and maintain:

  • Weekly progress reports
  • Indirect manpower forecasts
  • Construction support dashboards
  • Temporary facilities status reports
  • Equipment utilization reports
  • Executive schedule summaries
  • Recovery plans and mitigation strategies
  • 4-week and 12-week look-ahead schedules

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Primavera P6 scheduling expertise.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing.
  • Knowledge of indirect construction operations.
  • Schedule development and forecasting experience.
  • Ability to interpret construction work packages and area plans.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
