Project Overview:
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S.
This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
The candidate will mobilize on a long-term (camp) assignment to Pecos, Texas. This position is contingent upon project award.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will assist with coordinating security programs, physical security services, and emergency planning for the protection of the project and jobsite. You will participate in the development and implementation of security criteria and programs and procedures; provide functional guidance and direction to assigned security personnel and contractors; and monitor security activities and the performance of security services.#LI-KL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Leads the project security program for the construction site, project offices and camp, supporting a large, complex, low-to-medium risk construction environment in a remote location. Establishes security objectives and performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and ensure program effectiveness.
- Directs the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of security strategies, criteria, policies, and procedures for all project operations.
- Oversees and administers contracted site security services, ensuring performance is measured against established KPI’s, contractual requirements, and project security standards.
- Provides functional direction to assigned security personnel and coordinates activities with the contracted guard force service provider, without direct supervision of contractor personnel.
- Monitors security operations, audits performance, and ensures performance against established KPIs, corporate requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable federal, state and local laws.
- Develops and implements security awareness and training programs tailored to project workforce needs, including site-specific and role-based instruction.
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with local law enforcement, intelligence providers, and peer security professionals to support threat monitoring, situational awareness, incident response planning and coordinated response to security incidents, including crowd-related events, demonstrations, and access control disruptions.
- Provides security support and coordination with project disciplines that include but are not limited to Labor/Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Transportation & Logistics, and ES&H to address overlapping risks, ensure consistent application of policies, and support safe and compliant project operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Formal, specialized training in security, criminal justice, military, or related disciplines.
- Advanced knowledge of physical security principles, practices, and technologies, with the ability to apply them in protecting construction sites, offices, and personnel in remote, resource constrained environments.
- Proven experience managing security programs, including risk assessment, planning, budgeting, contract oversight of security services providers.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a complex industrial construction environment or remote locations characterized by adverse weather and constrained access to external support services (e.g. law enforcement and emergency services).
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and county laws, regulations, and industry standards governing security operations and compliance.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage leadership, contractors, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to assess threats and vulnerabilities and implement practical, risk-based mitigation measures.
- English proficiency required: Spanish preferred.
