Project Overview:

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business unit serving the semiconductor, electric vehicle, and datacenter markets, striving to exceed customer objectives through agility, innovative technologies, and world-class talent while solving the industry's toughest challenges for the future. Bechtel is supporting the construction of a semiconductor fabrication facility in Clay, New York, delivering a large, complex, fast-paced project footprint to safely enable advanced manufacturing capacity.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will direct a team of Control Systems personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans and review and approve control systems investigations and studies. Your leadership will drive high quality work plans, successful implementation of control system components, team support and training, and project performance. 

Major Responsibilities:

• Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day Control Systems engineering activity on small to medium sized projects or a portion of a major project with minimal to moderate complexity within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs). 
• Manage control systems engineering designs from initial concept and design through procurement, construction, and final commissioning.. 
• Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements. 
• Reviews and makes recommendations for the Control Systems engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval. 
• Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned. 
• Ensure all designs and structures strictly adhere to local, state, and federal codes, zoning laws, and safety regulations. 
• Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts, and change orders. 
• When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of Control Systems engineering aspects of the work. 
• Direct control systems teams of designers, contractors, and junior staff, offering guidance and professional mentorship.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of instrumentation and control valves including specifications, generation of data sheets, application of tubing, and instrument installations.
• Knowledge of control system design including digital and analog control logic, control system network architecture, allocation of facility control system I/O, graphic displays, and acceptance tests.
• Demonstrated strong frontline leadership skills and emphasis on continuous improvement and team building and an ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
• Ability to facilitate technical discussions with third parties (e.g., clients, suppliers, regulators).
• Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in semiconductors is preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineering (PE) in Control Systems.(state of NY is highly preferred)
