Job Summary:
With the continuing increase in demand for skilled Craft Professionals, Bechtel is seeking a skilled Workforce Services Specialist, with broad experience in delivering strategic workforce programs, to support the overarching Craft Professional Strategy and drive long term retention.
The Workforce Services Strategic Programs Specialist leads the identification of workforce risk, and the design, implementation, and measurement of the programs that mitigate it, so that craft professionals stay with the company for the long term.
Bechtel’s overarching craft professional strategy is built across three pillars: Attract, Train, and Retain. The Workforce Services Strategic Programs Specialist role works across all three pillars, with its deepest accountability in Retain. It is responsible for understanding how decisions taken upstream in attraction and training shape the durability of the workforce downstream.
This position will be based at Bechtel’s Reston office and report to Bechtel’s Workforce Services Operations Manager. This position may be eligible for part-time telework. #LI-TH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Monitor workforce indicators for early trends, including:
- Turnover and attrition patterns
- Absenteeism
- Workforce feedback
- Track external conditions that shape craft professional supply and mobility, including:
- Regional market competition
- Wage movement
- Competing project ramp-ups
- Travel and accommodation pressures
- Strengthen and connect existing workforce programs by identifying overlaps, gaps, and opportunities to improve alignment across the Attract, Train, and Retain strategy.
- Add strategic direction and consistency across projects by developing common approaches, tools, and practices that support repeatable execution and stronger workforce outcomes.
- Establish clear outcome measurement by defining success measures, tracking progress, and using data to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
- Partner with corporate and Project teams to understand workforce needs, align priorities, and ensure programs are practical, scalable, and responsive to project conditions.
- Collaborate with existing program owners to build capacity, share best practices, reduce duplication of effort, and enhance program impact across the organization.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in workforce retention, engagement, industrial relations or workforce planning within construction, mining, heavy industry or a comparable field-based environment.
- Skills in written and verbal communication including the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
- Strong analytical judgment, credibility with project leadership, and disciplined follow-through to translate workforce insights into sustained program results.
- Must have the right to work in the US.
