Project Overview:

Mining and Metals: 

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.  

Job Summary:

This role, will collaborate to plan, develop, coordinate, and review project structural design work. Producing drawings, facilitating discussions, communicating complex technical issues, and preparing structural design estimates and work plan. The recommendations will ensure designs and work plans are in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, regulations, and standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Leading or administering work of structural designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings
  • Developing designs for complete and complex structural engineering systems such as foundation, concrete and steel structures with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed
  • Assisting in constructing detailed scale models
  • Monitoring and checking work for compliance with approved civil/structural design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy
  • Participating in constructability reviews
  • Preparing design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort
  • Coordinating or making jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents
  • Reviewing structural design scope changes, as required, for project management
  • Ensuring structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Modeling in Smartplant 3D, including data entry, extraction of plans and use of Smartsketch, extraction of quantity reports.
  • Use of Microstation
  • Development of plans for Engineering Studies and Details
  • Experience in EPC Projects 
  • Experience in Advanced Work Packaging (AWP)
  • Experience in quantity tracking and CAPEX development support
