Project Overview:
Ujina Growth Project:
The mining area is located 185 km southeast of Iquique, at 4,400 meters above sea level, in Tarapacá Region. The main objective of Doña Inés de Collahuasi’s project is to increase the concentrator’s throughput capacity from an average of 170 ktpd to 210 ktpd. Currently, the awarded service corresponds to the execution of Package PG1 - the first of three packages contemplated for this project - which involves the detailed engineering and procurement (EP) of six flotation cells, and on-site support during the construction phase. Service for package PG1, which began on August 1, 2023, is a continuation of the study phase (FEL3) and is expected to be completed in February 2025.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel’s existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements.
Major Responsibilities:
Project
- Provides Construction recommendations on multiple disciplines
- Coordinates with all team members in generating and developing approved Constructability ideas and plans.
- Initiates the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during project development/Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.
- Prepares and may lead Constructability awareness training
- Contributes to construction related design decisions by providing Construction’s perspective to schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, degree of shop fabrication, and equipment delivery configuration and sequence.
Non-Project
- Reviews and delivers Constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.
- Maintains/develops enterprise-wide processes and procedures
- Ensures effective implementation of Quality Management System
- Promotes development of enterprise applications
- Contributes to proposal efforts
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to collaborate well with other disciplines, and have ability to resolve design issues independently and collaboratively with other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Knowledge & application of ACI code and AISC Standards.
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings for CSA on mining and industrial process facilities.
- Hands-on and advanced experience using Smartplant 3D, Microstation, civil road and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively; Broad knowledge of the application of field engineering design.
- Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and FSKs.
- CSA MTOs reviewing.
- Creating bill of materials and drawing installation details for the modelled, and other details using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing.
- Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of CSA field engineering
- Assists with the project control in the preparation of, quantity take-offs, forecasts, and change orders review, requested by owner.
