Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. Job Summary:
The Senior Electrical Designer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and reviewing electrical design deliverables for EPC/EPCM projects. This role produces detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, material take-offs (MTOs), and design documentation while ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and company procedures. This role will be responsabile for preparing electrical deliverables such as single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable routing plans, grounding and bonding systems, lighting and lightning protection designs, installation details, and underground/raceway layouts. The position requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams, proactive resolution of design issues, and support for project execution through high-quality, constructible, and cost-effective design solutions.
The Senior Electrical Designer is expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, perform quality reviews, and ensure the timely and accurate completion of assigned deliverables.
Major Responsibilities:
- Planning, coordinating, and reviewing electrical design and drafting activities for EPC/EPCM projects, including assignments in support of global business unit (GBU).
- Developing and overseeing electrical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design interfaces and support clash detection and resolution activities.
- Preparing and reviewing electrical drawings, 3D models, material take-offs (MTOs), design estimates, and work plans.
- Interfacing with engineers, designers, clients, suppliers to support project execution and technical alignment.
- Facilitating technical discussions and resolve complex design issues through sound engineering judgment.
- Monitoring progress, quality, and performance of assigned design work to ensure timely delivery within project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, standards, and work processes, support of Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
- Reviewing and approving key electrical deliverables, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Coordinating with client representatives to address comments and obtain design approvals.
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and intermediate designers, promoting professional growth and best practices.
- Supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure safe, practical, and constructible design solutions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- (Essential) Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, design criteria, engineering procedures, guidelines, and electrical codes relevant to the discipline.
- (Essential) Advanced proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
- (Essential) Advanced 3D modeling capabilities for electrical design development and coordination.
- Ability to work autonomously in the execution of electrical design activities, taking a proactive role in the development, coordination, and delivery of discipline-specific deliverables within assigned areas of responsibility.
- Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) principles and their application in engineering design.
- Experience in the preparation and verification of Material Take-Off (MTO) quantities and material lists.
- Sound knowledge of electrical design and drafting practices, engineering drawing standards, drawing interpretation, and document reproduction methods used within the discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in EPC/EPCM project environments.
- Strong electrical discipline expertise, with the ability to independently resolve a broad range of technical and design-related challenges.
- (Desirable) Intermediate level of English proficiency, both written and verbal.
