Project Overview:
The Ontario Pumped Storage Project is a proposed large‑scale clean energy storage facility to be located near Meaford, Ontario, on the shores of Georgian Bay, designed to provide up to 1,000 MW of flexible, on‑demand electricity to support Ontario’s growing power needs. The project would operate as a “natural battery,” pumping water from Georgian Bay to an elevated reservoir during periods of low electricity demand and releasing it through turbines during peak demand to generate low‑carbon power, strengthening grid reliability and enabling greater integration of renewable energy. As part of Bechtel’s infrastructure and energy portfolio, Bechtel is supporting the project by bringing its global expertise in complex hydroelectric and pumped storage developments, including project management, constructability, execution planning, and delivery assurance, helping to advance a critical piece of Ontario’s future clean energy infrastructure. Bechtel’s role is the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) contractor, initially progressing the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) to 30%, carrying out execution planning and developing a project schedule and cost estimate ahead of a Final Investment Decision (FID) by the customer.
Job Summary:
The 4D / SYNCHRO Planner will support project planning, construction sequencing, and schedule visualization through the development, maintenance, and analysis of integrated 4D models using SYNCHRO 4D and related planning tools. This role bridges traditional project controls scheduling with digital construction planning by linking the project schedule to 3D design models to support constructability reviews, execution planning, stakeholder communication, and progress analysis.
The successful candidate will work closely with project controls, construction, engineering, field supervision, digital delivery, and project management teams to create accurate, meaningful, and actionable 4D planning deliverables that improve schedule certainty, construction sequencing, interface management, and overall project execution performance. #LI-ML1
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update 4D construction models using SYNCHRO 4D by linking approved project schedules with 3D models.
- Integrate schedule activities with model elements to visualize construction sequence, workface planning, installation logic, and project execution strategy.
- Support the creation of baseline, forecast, and scenario-based 4D simulations.
- Support schedule reviews by identifying logic gaps, sequencing issues, access constraints, interface conflicts, and constructability concerns.
- Provide visual schedule analysis to support mitigation planning, recovery plans, and project management decision-making.
- Contribute to schedule risk discussions by providing visual insight into critical path, near-critical activities, congestion, and execution constraints.
- Facilitate 4D planning workshops with project stakeholders, including construction, engineering, procurement, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Support integration with other digital tools, including Primavera P6, Navisworks, BIM platforms, reporting tools, and project data environments.
