Job Summary:

  • The successful candidate will perform a variety of human resources operations support activities aligned with Business needs.
  • Be the single point of contact for HR related matters for employees based out of Bechtel’s Chennai office(s).

Job Dimensions
Supervision Received:

  • Receives functional and operational direction from Senior HR Business Partner, India Offices.
  • Receives administrative direction from Office Manager – Chennai.

Contacts
Internal:

  • Contacts Senior HR Business Partner, India Offices to help in policy interpretation or in implementation of HR programs.

External:

  • Establish business relationship with renowned hospitals in Chennai for driving wellness initiatives.
    Contacts academic and technical institutions and management representatives of other companies to obtain business intelligence which would maintain Bechtel’s competitiveness within the industry.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Implements HR policies, procedures, and programs; evaluates progress and results of HR programs and recommends changes where necessary.
  • Provides HR generalist support, advice, and counsel to line management on Human Resources programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with key stakeholders – local management, Senior HR Business Management, and colleagues in People Operations.
  • Engage with Senior HR Functional specialists to resolve queries of employees, supervisors, and Managers.
  • Manage and expedite resolution (collaborating closely with People Operations) of requests from employees, supervisors, and Managers.
  • Support functions to ensure the projects are staffed (working closely with Talent Acquisition) as per requirements; interviews and refers technical candidates.
  • Processing documents and onboarding of new employees and transfers to the project / office.
  • Assists in employee engagement programs by engaging with projects & functions.
  • Assists in facilitating virtual & classroom training programs for office / project employees.
  • Consult with People Operations team to ensure all HR processes are complied with.
  • Researches, assembles, and evaluates information or data regarding industry practices or affecting local / regional HR policies or programs; communicates & escalates to Senior HR Business Partner and / or local management.
  • Analyses various aspects of employee life cycle (hires, promotions, transfers, terminations etc.), designs applicable reporting systems and ensures regular communication Senior HR Business Partner and Local Management.
  • Ensure any employee relations issues are managed to resolution (collaborating closely with People Operations) with minimal business impact.
  • Participates in HR meetings and serves as an advocate for the business in shaping HR services, solutions, policies, and practices

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Post Graduate professional qualifications in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organization Development, Labour Relations, Social Work etc.
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience in various Human Resources disciplines (Compensation & Benefits, Staffing & Recruitment, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Indian Employment and Labour Laws).

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent Communication & People skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
  • Proficient in MS-Office Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of SAP, Success Factors and Power BI (preferred).
