Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future. 

Job Summary:

The Internal Communication and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for leading the internal communication, engagement and coordination activity required to support Perth Airport’s major projects within the Planning & Projects portfolio. 

In conjunction with broader Corporate Affairs team the role provides strategic communication advice, planning and delivery support to ensure team members, contractors and internal stakeholders receive consistent, timely and clear information. It will help create alignment across project communications, change activity, internal channels, key messages, presentation materials, event calendars and contractor communication approvals. 

Major Responsibilities:

Planning & Projects Communication Strategy

Lead internal communications for the Planning & Projects portfolio.
Translate project priorities, milestones and impacts into clear, engaging messaging.
Support PAPL’s growth, culture and stakeholder objectives.
Advise leaders on communication priorities, risks and engagement.

Internal Channels & Coordination

Manage communication channels, content standards and delivery cadence.
Coordinate updates across newsletters, intranet, briefings and forums.
Maintain communication and event calendars.
Ensure alignment with Corporate Affairs messaging.

Change Management Communication Support

Deliver communications for project-related change and transition activities.
Partner with leaders and People & Culture on impacted team messaging.
Develop leader briefs, FAQs and communication materials.
Identify risks and opportunities to improve awareness and adoption.

Project Communication Plans & Key Messaging

Develop communication plans aligned to project milestones and priorities.
Maintain key messages, presentations and briefing materials.
Ensure messaging is accurate, approved and audience appropriate.
Align communications with PAPL’s corporate narrative.

Contractor Communication Governance

Coordinate contractor communication plans and approval processes.
Ensure messaging is compliant, consistent and aligned with project narratives.
Provide guidance and escalate communication risks as required.

Stakeholder Engagement & Internal Events

Support project briefings, forums and employee engagement activities.
Coordinate event content, presentations and communication materials.
Build stakeholder relationships and anticipate communication needs.
Align internal engagement with external communication activities where required.

Measurement, Improvement & Delivery Discipline

Monitor communication effectiveness through feedback and engagement insights.
Maintain governance, planning discipline and version control.
Continuously improve communication processes, templates and approvals.

Other responsibilities as reasonably directed by leadership team.  

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience in internal communications, project communications, change communication, stakeholder engagement or similar roles.
  • Experience supporting complex infrastructure, construction, transformation or capital program environments.
  • Proven ability to manage communication plans, calendars, approvals, briefs, toolkits and stakeholder materials.
  • Strong understanding of change communication principles and employee engagement methods.
  • Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, business, change management or related discipline desirable.
