Project Overview:

Mining and Metals: 

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will apply standard Process/Chemical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria to support engineering studies and project execution. You will participate in the design, development, and modification of Process/Chemical systems and deliverables, exercising independent judgment within established procedures and standards. You will coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders to address technical issues and support project requirements

Major Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating, selecting and applying standard Process/Chemical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, exercising independent judgment when making adaptations and modifications.
  • Participating in the design and development of Process/Chemical systems and prepares calculations, equipment sizing, system evaluations, technical reports and other engineering deliverables for assigned studies and projects.
  • Participating in the development and technical review of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), ensuring consistency with the design basis, applicable standards and project requirements.
  • Developing and providing Process engineering technical information and inputs for HAZOP, HAZID, and other safety, operability, and process risk assessment workshops.
  • Coordinating assigned Process/Chemical activities and interfaces with other engineering disciplines, specialty groups, clients, vendors, construction, and project functions to support integrated engineering deliverables.
  • Providing technical assistance to Process/Chemical personnel and project functions in addressing technical, regulatory, code, and standards-related issues during study and project execution.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or international equivalent, and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Process/Chemical engineering principles, methods, techniques, procedures, and industry practices applicable to the assigned area.
  • Ability to evaluate technical issues, exercise engineering judgment within established procedures, and develop practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of process design activities, including process calculations, equipment sizing and evaluation, development of design criteria, and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), including their development, review, and application as key Process engineering deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of Process engineering simulation and modeling software, such as METSIM, JKSimMet, SysCAD, or other relevant tools, is desirable.
  • Ability to develop Process engineering technical information and inputs for HAZOP, HAZID, and other safety, operability, and process risk assessment workshops.
  • Ability to organize assigned work, manage technical priorities, and meet applicable project quality and schedule requirements.
  • An intermediate level of English is expected, with the ability to communicate effectively in technical and project environments.
  • Right to live and work in country of assignment without sponsorship
